Use the list without missing a card

Pitch Black looks simple until the same Pokémon appears three or four times and the reverse holos start filling your sorting table. Here is the clean way to read the 120-card list and build the binder.

Start with the split: #001–084, then #085–120⌄

#001 Tropius through #084 Voltaic Lightning Energy are the 84-card main set. #085 Fomantis begins the 36 secret rares, and #120 Mega Darkrai ex closes the list. If your binder jumps from #084 straight to #085, your numbered set is laid out correctly.

A 204-card master set is not 204 different numbers⌄

You need all 120 numbered cards, plus reverse-holo copies of the 84 eligible main-set cards. The secret rares from #085–120 do not get another reverse-holo slot. That is the whole calculation: 120 + 84 = 204. Keep promos outside this count.

Watch the number—several names appear more than once⌄

Goldeen is #013 and #087. Primarina is #020 and #088. Dhelmise is #039 and #091. Morpeko ex appears at #055, #102 and #117. Searching by name is useful, but mark your checklist by card number or you will swear you own a card that is still missing.

There are four Mega Darkrai ex cards, not one⌄

#048 is the Double Rare, #101 is the Ultra Rare, #116 is the Special Illustration Rare and #120 is the Mega Hyper Rare. When someone says “the Darkrai,” ask for the number. The artwork, rarity and price are completely different.

The cards people keep pointing out are easy to find here⌄

Community favorites outside the headline Darkrai include Goldeen #087, Primarina #088, Dhelmise #091 and Morpeko ex #117. Use the rarity filter for Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare, then search the name. You will reach the right version without scrolling through all 120 cards.

Set up the binder once and save yourself a full resort⌄

For a numbered set, leave 120 slots and file everything in exact number order. For a master set, put each reverse holo directly behind its matching main-set card, or keep a separate #001–084 reverse-holo run. Do not mix promos into numbered gaps; give them their own page at the back.
